Hop on over to the introduce yourself board and tell us about yourself. How you manage your diabetes, diet, etc. Welcome!

Can you tell us how your bgs are? Sometimes weight loss comes with higher bgs. Are you on any other drugs like statins. When I was on statins I lost way too much muscle weight making me look like a skeleton. So I stopped the statin and slowly regained the weight.

If you lost that much, you should look into antibody testing -- you might well be a Type 1. This is an urgent and serious matter.

You might be able to stop damage to your body and your beta cells (which produce insulin) if you act quickly.

How is your blood sugar control??? Please tell us more.

I started insulin about 2 weeks ago and I gained 1 kg already :)

You must consider Foxl's advice seriously...... I mean, really-really seriously

I began fast-acting insulin and dinner time insulin about a month ago and have since added lunch time insulin recently, but have not gained any weight back yet.

And how are your numbers running since you added insulin?

They aren't great, I'm on very LOW units of insulin. I take 2 units of Apidra with lunch, 4 units of Apidra with dinner, and 10 units of Levimir at bedtime.

My fasting numbers look great! I'm ranging 95-105 typically.
My before lunch numbers look AWFUL which are around 190-210.
My before dinner numbers look soso, about 170-180.
My before bedtime numbers are looking better...down to about 165.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be on breakfast insulin by October at my 9 month check up.

I have a sneaking suspicion that if you'd dump all the carbs you're eating, you wouldn't be having these issues with high daytime levels, and you won't be forced to increase your insulin to cover. ;)

Please explain more what is antibody testing.

Not to hijack this thread---but I have lost a lot of weight recently, yoo.Dropped from 165 to 145 in, ~ 6 months. I wasn't even trying to diet. Ok, I was just recently diagnosed with type 2. I also have rheumatoid arthritis.

My diabetes is currently being treated by my PCP. I see my rheumatologist again in about a month. should I ask for antibody tests?

Thanks!
