Default Bad leg wound not healing

I have kicked my inside ankle several times and the result is now an open wound that doesn't heal.

Dr has prescribed a gel and change of dressing 2x a day.

Overnight the wound does get a crust on it but with the gel it goes away. Pharmacist says that I should not let it crust.

Seems to me the crust is a better way to healing but maybe I am just kidding myself. Anyone have similar experience?

Thanks

My dad has leg wounds and swelling in the lower legs. He's 90 years old and frequently goes to the wound care center with this chronic condition. Cleanse with warm water compresses, apply Neosporin wound cleanser (foaming cleanser in a can) and apply neosporin type gel until healed. Treaty gently, it will take some time.. And be sure to NOT cleanse with hydrogen peroxide-- it aggravates the wound and keeps it from healing.

How are your blood sugar numbers? Getting your diabetes under control will be the biggest factor in healing this wound. If you're keeping your blood sugar under 7.7mmol (140mg/dl), healing should occur in time. I too would think scabbing over to be a good thing, but this is not my area of expertise, so I'll let others weigh in on that.

I remember your consternation about consuming carbs when those are the very things our bodies cannot process, so I hope you have developed a way-of-eating that is devoid of carbs. If you haven't, do start now.
