Default Confused

Hi all,
I have a question. I was diagnosed in August with an a1-c of 11.5. I was put on Met 500mg x 2. I quickly made the changes to my diet and lifestyle and lowered my a1-c to 5.9 by December. Met 500mg x 1 beginning in December and my bs got even better. I have had only 1 morning reading over 96 in two months. Over the last few weeks my afternoon numbers have given me trouble. Around an hour before I normally eat dinner my bs will be between 75-80 but by the time I eat it is around 95-100. This has happened several times and I assume it is my liver dumping but what confuses me it I thought once I consistantly had numbers in the 70's my body would recognize this as normal and the liver dump would stop but that has not happened. I normally eat around 45-55 grams of carbs per day and absolutely no simple carbs, grains, or starches. Should I start eating a small smack before dinner or continue to push through it?

Our livers always have a mind of their own, and going too long without eating is one of their favorite excuses for dumping glucose. If you get a good reading an hour before mealtime, then eat a handful of nuts or a nice piece of cheese to allay your liver's fears that you will starve to death before dinner is ready.

I was hoping I could train my liver that the lower numbers were normal but I may just have to start eating a small snack. Every time I get comfortable Diabetes throws me another curve ball. Guess I gotta be a better hitter.

What is the 2 hr PP reading post dinner ? If that stays under 120-130 then I'd think that you are doing just fine. Just for curiosity if you want to try a small snack before dinner, make it about 20-30 gms protein based.

And accept that you've changed the rules and your body has to do the same and it can take longer to get used to the new game than you...could that be it?
