Exclamation Out of control

I just recently started taking a pill for my thyroid, endo said it is slightly under active. At first my sugars dropped like crazy. This lasted all of about two days, now my sugars are constantly high, when i do get them under control i will eat, even something small with little to no carbs andy bs takes off like a rocket. Then my sites started to get infected. I could have a site in for more than a day. I have since taken care of the infected sites but the bs is still out of control. Has anyone else experienced anything like this.

I have Hoshimoto's, so I take a pill for my thyroid every day (Tirosint). It will normalize.

Maybe others, especially T1s with thyroid issues, can interject.

When do you go back for another thyroid test? It sounds like a misfiring to me. I had something like that happen years ago before I knew I had a thyroid problem. Worth calling the doctor about it.

A1c 12/30/12 6.0
A1c 6/24/13 5.5 !!
A1c 6/18/15 6.0
A1C 2/25/16 5.8

Meds: Metformin 1000mm/2 times a day

Other meds: synthroid (no thyroid due to cancer); verapamil, losartan, water pill, standard eye drops for glaucoma.

Sympathies. I have no knowledge of thyroid meds, but it does sound like your BG is trying to tell you things are not stable. It may turn out it just takes more time...but I encourage you to talk to your doctor.

You should find out your TSH score. Normal values are now 0.5 to 3. If you are over that or in the high part of the range, you will need Thyroid meds. However, your thyroid may be randomly helping you out yet, which will make life interesting. I'd take the meds for a month and see if things settle down.

My thyroid got sluggish right after I had hysterectomy in 96 so doc put me on a thyroid pill which I still take and blood work is always find on it.That being said was a diagnosed diabetic for a couple yes before this, but after my thyroid went wacky my sugars did too.Had to really vamp up my diabetic diet to keep it under control was much harder and let it ride for a few more urs than I should have before I gave in and was put on metformin, which helped me greatly til last yr and had to be put on another type of pill that really did nothing,so now finally been put on a flex pen insulin but I'm 54 and not getting any younger so I'm not gonna stress myself too bad about it 19 yrs aoint too bad of an insulin free time.Anyway getting back to you,my sis has just learned about 6 months ago her thyroid is low and was put on a pill and low and behold her sugars started rising, she is now on metformin and its not doing what it should so they may need to add something else, she's 44 and in pretty good shape not over weight at all and she walks everyday so it may be a thyroid thing and it just may mess with pancreas output.Need to talk to your doc and tell him what's going on and soon...Hope this helps
