You need to test more often to get a true picture of what the foods you are eating do to your bg #'s. We call this "eating to you meter". You will use a lot of strips in the beginning, but it won't be long before you have compiled a list of all the things you can eat safely and then you won't have to test so often. It is important to do the 1 hr after first bite test as that is where the spike is usually found. If you just do 2 hrs you may well miss it completely.

This is one of the most important tools in managing/controlling our bg levels. We first have to know what they are!!

So I want to stop taking Met as well. What I'm basing my decision on when that can be is getting my waist measurement to a healthy size for my height.

I chose that because IR and carrying extra belly fat appear to be correlated.

I have several more inches to go, and then I'm allowing myself to drop it for a whole month, and then will ramp it back up slowly if I can't keep my numbers in my "safety range" on LCHF and more walkies with doggies and rowing machine.

I'm hoping to be in the LCHF happy place where my body has determined it's weight/shape in the spring of 2015, about 18 months after DX, and maintaining my 5% club membership for over a year.

I'm not a patient person, and the summer stall I had killed me, as I really wanted to be able to start experimenting with dropping Met at the year mark.
