This makes very little sense. The woman in the video that is back at the start of this thread hasn't even had an A1c test, and she is declaring that she has no diabetes. She talks about what she eats, and then says her BG is 110, which correlates to a T2 who eats what she apparently does, in the small quantities she takes in. Then we find she is on meds, which will also lower her BG and help control it, so even tho its a harsh word, this is a scam. Nothing in that video shows that she did anything but lose fifty pounds, and so her BP went down, Duh!, and she barely eats, and never anything chocolate, so she thinks she is not a diabetic.

Where are the results of the A1c tests, and what about a fasting glucose tolerance test? What were her numbers prior to the surgery? If I eat zero or nearly zero carbs, my BG never goes above 115, and fasting numbers are in the 70-80's or so, but I am a type 2 diabetic, and there is no doubt because if I fall off the wagon, my BG goes up accordingly.

We need to quit fooling ourselves. There is no cure for diabetes, and there never will be. Pharmacutical companies sell strips for $1 a piece. That is a cash cow that they have NO motivation to eliminate. Healthcare companies are not about making people healthy, its about making a lot of money for a few people.

Sorry to be negative, but nothing presented here points towards anyone curing diabetes.

John

I read the article about gastric by-pass surgery curing Type 2...asked my doctor about this (in Canada you can get this surgery for free if you are morbidly obese). Although I could qualify, my doctor says that by-passing your stomach to cure diabetes is like removing your eyes to prevent blindness. Gastric by-pass is serious surgery with many complications and ongoing maintenance, regular vomiting, etc. The lifestyle changes required to live with gastric by-pass are far more restrictive than the lifestyle changes required to live a healthy life with diabetes.

Not to mention that there is a high mortality rate.

Default Never stop asking!

John, i understand your feeling towards health care companies and your complains are true. I do not think they would ever give up the money they are currently making to help us get cured but as a doctor, i will like to advice you not to give up on us! You see, i believe that even though medicine is so dependant on pharmaceutical science, well wishing doctors could research cure for diabetes soon but it is not going to be a cheap one either. lol
So, when you go for your regular check ups, never stop asking your doctor for a cure. He might just decide to help you with the secret to cure your diabetes( type 2 only) as i doubt there will ever be a cure for type 1 sufferers.

The only cure (if it does not Kill you) that I have heard of is surgery that removes ALL of your visceral fat. Visceral fat is the fat that surrounds you organs inside your chest cavity and abdomen.
it is suppose to be 85% effective
If I remember correct it has a 9% fatality rate. and only works on T2 where the pancreas is still making insulin.

You can put diabetes into remission by loosing weight and exercising. But it will come back given time or weight gain.

Sorry, your in it for the long haul.

I like to be optimistic, but I don't think that there is a "secret cure" for type 2 diabetes yet. There is ongoing research everyday, and perhaps one day there will be a cure.

I see that this is not a cure as there is other reasons in your body that has made you a Diabetic. This operation is in short restricts your eating habits.

The real cure is Lifestyle!! Eat the right foods, Exercise!!

Hey,

COuld you please share if you finally decided to have the surgery? If yes, how was the experience? My mother is a diabetic patient since last 12 years and I am also exploring options to possibly cure it permanently.

THanks,
SWati

Recenting i read an article in newspaer saying that for obese people having Type 2 diabetes Gastric Bypass was done which not only cured theh obesity but also irradicated Diabetes as well.

This treatment works for non obese person as well.

i went and met the doctor and they tell me that by aproscopy they do some intestional rearrangement which cures diabetes permanently.

I wanted my father to go for this operation but not sure how many people have already tried this or not? whether this eorks or not?

BTW teh doctors sound very confident that the patient can be permanently cured in this way.
