Default About Done With Doctors

I really would liketo fire doctors period. I felt better when I didn't care about how high my sugar went and that was 600 and had hyperthyroidism for 20 but not this fat.

I was supposed a CBC and the doctors put in a "statin panel". LOL they even call it that. That's after I discussed with him that I won't be taking one , nor I won't be taken Zetia and the new injectable one, I didn't want to line Big Pharma's pocket.

Well his nursed called me today asking me about taking statins. He don't even remember me and I was his strange case in the hospital where he told I couldn't take them or risk kidney damage. I don't get it.

Anyway I'm waiting a call from him or his nurse.

The results were:

Statin Panel
ALT (SGPT) (5-50 unit/L) 17
AST (SGOT) (10-58 unit/L) 25
Chol (0-239 mg/dL) 258
HDL (>=40 mg/dL) 55
LDL (0-159 mg/dL) 182
Non-HDL (0-159 mg/dL) 202
Trig (00-199 mg/dL) 103

What does this mean and I wonder what I do now.

My god - now a simple lipids panel has been renamed a statin panel?! The better to get every single citizen on statins?!

I'm not looking at any of those numbers except your HDL (looking good) and trigs (those are looking good too). Unless that brain-dead doc is willing to order a VAP or NMR lipoprotein test, he deserves to be fired at the soonest possible opportunity.

When they call back I'm going to ask for the particle size test. If they can get the insurance company to pay 1200 a month for a new cholesteral drugs, then they should be willing to pay for the vap test.

Don't hold your breath too long for getting the vap test. I asked for it to be done at my GPs office and she raised her eyebrows and looked at me like I was crazy. Never mind I had the same test done at the Endo's office and she would not even look at the results.

Those numbers look fine to me. Cholesterol numbers on their own do not mean anything. Since they are now designating a lipid panel as a statin panel, the intent is very clear.

I am horrified they are actually calling the test a 'statin panel'.

If you can get more detailed testing on the LDL, that would be good, even possibly useful, information.

Your LDL/HDL ratio is 3.3. Good is under 5. Great is under 2. You are good.

Your HDL/total ratio is 4.6. Good is 5. Great is under 3.5. You are still good.

I personally would not stress my body and risk my kidneys on those ratios.

More importantly, your triglyceride/HDL ratio is under 2.
