Default Managing without Meds

When dx with T2 7 years ago, I decided to try to manage without Meds as much as possible and postpone using Meds for as long as possible. With LCHF diet and exercise 1.5 hours daily M-F, I have been able to maintain fasting BS of 100-120, and PP of 120-140. My doctor says this is good and to just keep doing what I am doing. Any thoughts or suggestions on this?

T2 DX 2009 A1C 8.5
60 yrs old
5'-10", 164 lbs
Current A1C: 6.00-6.5 every 90 days cycle.

IMO, a small dose of metformin would be beneficial, say 500 mg tablet, cut in two taken twice a day OR just taken at night. Metformin has benefits beyond just blood sugar control. In my own personal case, when I'm not taking metformin, my knees hurt. They don't know why, but I'm sure studies down the road will figure it out. Until this past year, my A1C was generally 6.2 or less and BG measurements on par with yours.

If you go by the studies at Blood Sugar 101, even having morning blood sugar in the 100-120 range is causing damage when it is every day. Keep in mind, you already HAVE a lot of damage to have BG impairment in the first place.
