BG Increase after...

insulin injection.

I inject 30 units of Lantus each morning after taking my first BG reading of the day. For the last 2 weeks or so, I have noticed that instead of my reading dropping 2 hr after breakfast... it increases. It doesn't matter what I eat for breakfast either (always eggs and bacon of some variation)... it still goes up. Then later in the day it goes down.
I don't know if this is a big deal, but it's definitely different than before.

Are you using medicine?
My BG also always rise, but it is the cortison in my asthma medicine that does that.

Lantus is a very slow and long acting insulin. It is not necessarily used to have a immediate effect but to help supplement your pancreas throughout the entire.

Hi Hammer. What sort of numbers are we looking at and what sort of foods?
I take Lantus every morning as you do and eat lchf. I find my bg goes up and down but in the range low 5 before meals to max of 8 two hours after if I do have some carbs.
I have only been going for months so still need to get it lower but slowly and carefully. Have got my A1c from 12 to 6 so getting there.
Let the people here have as much info as possible and you get very good help and advice.

My fasting BG was 115, two hrs after a breakfast of bacon and eggs it was 118. 2 hrs after a lunch of pork ribs and sliced cucumber, it was 116.
