They're both gliflozins, or SGLT2 inhibitors, combined with metformin. Gliflozins, according to Wikipedia, "prevent the kidneys' reuptake of glucose [...] and subsequently lower the glucose level in the blood and promote the excretion of glucose in the urine."

I don't know why your doctor changed your Rx to Segluromet; maybe Invokamet is no longer on your health plan formulary or one is cheaper than the other or ... ??? But it does not appear to present a big change in how your primary-care professional is addressing your Type 2.

I was having many yeast infections was why. The Invokamet is not on my insurance plan and I had been on it for a year. So my guess is he doesn't care about my infections just that I can get this one free for up to a year.

Because of the way gliflozins work (encouraging the body to pass more sugar through the urine), yeast infections are a not-uncommon side effect. I don't know if Segluromet is formulated differently enough to help you avoid those (that would be great!) but that might be another reason for the switch. Your doctor could get more specific about it.
