Default New Doctor, A1c

I have been without a doctor since February and finally found a primary care physician who may work. She actually read my history and asked detailed questions which is always refreshing.

I am so happy that she agreed to renew my migraine medication prescription, zomig. My migraines are bad enough to blind me and sometimes send me to the ER so when docs are funny about renewing the prescription it's frustrating. She ran some tests on my kidneys and liver to make sure I still qualified to take it, which my old doctor never bothered to do. Too bad they are so expensive. I get 6 pills a month for $50...

When my blood tests came back she called me herself to let me know the results. My A1c was 5.0! I was pleased to see that all my diet ups and downs recently haven't dorked things up too much.

The best part about this doc is that she never brought up my blood pressure or weight. Which was a HUGE relief after getting so much grief about both from every doctor for the past 5 years...

Excellent A1c, Daytona! You may be the first among us to join a 4% club! Or does anyone else have a sub-5 A1c here? Wish we could all find docs that engaged with their patients like yours seems to be doing.

Daytona, awesome A1c! I'm so happy for you that your doctor is thorough and supportive without being overly critical or bullying. That's a rare combination. My doctors all lectured me about my weight and blood pressure, too, and I dreaded my appointments primarily for those reasons. I hope you can keep seeing her!

The two of them alone in an exclusive club? Uh oh, I think we all need to get our A1cs down to break up their all-night parties and shenanigans!

My last A1c home test was 5%. I have done so much better since then, and fully expected to join the 4% club on Dec 11, but now with the dumb prednisone I will probably have to wait until my next labs, most likely in June '13!
