Default Best anti-statin research links?

Even though my VAP has shown me to be in the "not at coronary risk" category the last 3 times it was done, my doctor told me yesterday that "everyone" would recommend that I take a statin, even though she knows I won't. I told her that not everyone is in agreement about statins, and she agreed to read any articles I sent her so long as they are scientific (and not Dr. Oz-type) articles. Which do you think are the best?

You could google Dr. Golomb and the Statin study. I don't know if the actual research papers are available but there are a lot of articles on it and references to it. Look here https://www.statineffects.com/info/

Here it is

I came across this link last night. It is a 3-part video, however I was only able to view parts 1 and 2. It must be my computer because part 3 comes up as "unavailable."

Abra, you are very lucky to have a doctor who respects you enough to "listen" to you. Some of us are not so fortunate. I've been summoned to appear at my GPs office 3rd Jan so she can 'speak' to me about my cholesterol.

If you go to Amazon com and search on "Cholesterol Myth" it will bring up Dr. Sinatra and Dr. Bowden's new book, as well as others on the same subject. These are the doctors that were featured on Dr. Oz show last week. There is also a Dr. Curtis, and others, who have written books on the subject. All of them state that cholesterol has been misunderstood, that statin drugs are over prescribed, and that the side effects are very serious and under-reported.

Here is a link on the Weston A Price Foundation, it is dated 2004, but has a lot of good information in it: Dangers of Statin Drugs: What You Haven

Thanks, guys. Of all of these, the NIH paper is the only one she'd be interested in. She asked me for hard science, not popular versions. I was just hoping some of you might have ready links to research papers - Daytona?

This might help -- it is a Medscape article about the recent changes the FDA instituted in statin drug labels, why the changes were made, what the data showed in the studies.
In this interview, they are discussing studies that showed "significant" increase in diabetes developing in statin drug patients. In particular the Women's Health Initiative study that showed a very high incidence of diabetes among post-menopausal women.
Medscape: Medscape Access

This might be even better -- University of Massachusetts own reports on their study results, with links http://www.umassmed.edu/news/researc...-interest.aspx
