Default Introduction

Hello! I am Krista, a 33 year old early childhood professional. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in September and have literally been working my butt off to stay off meds ever since. I have lost almost 30 lbs since then and my glucose levels are normal, for now. Its a daily challenge and I work hard but its worth it! I am determined to stay med free!

Ever few weeks I find a new hurdle, symptom, or change to adjust to. It gets very frustrating!!! Hope to soon find my "new normal". Can't wait to meet you all!

Welcome, Krista - you're a success story coming out of the gate. Congrats on the weight loss, and control without meds.

What are the new symptoms that have been cropping up? I'm curious because once I got my bg under control, I was fortunate that my symptoms left and didn't reappear.

Very glad you joined us.

Hi Krista and welcome to the forum!!

Tell us a little more about yourself. What are your numbers like, fasting and post prandial? What was your last A1c? What were your numbers like at dx? What sort of diet do you eat? The more info we have the better we can answer your questions. Generally we refer new members to this excellent resource of all things diabetes: Blood Sugar 101. The author is a diabetic herself and has done tons of research for everything she writes.

Another good place to have a look around is Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt's site: The Diet Doctor. It will give you a good introduction to the low carb/high fat way of eating. Many of us here follow that w.o.e. and have great success controlling our numbers and feeling well satisfied with our food. It flys in the face of everything we have been (wrongly) taught, but it does work!! Just look at my signature to see how it has worked for me. Also check out our Diet & Nutrition section to see what we are eating and tons of recipes!!

We are a worldwide group here with an amazing amount of combined knowledge/experience. Ask any and all questions you have, someone will come along that can answer them!

Glad you found us and best of luck to you!

My challenges have been my fasting levels and changes in levels. My awake levels I can regulate and keep where they should be. My fasting (overnight) are always higher 130-140. I think I am going to try the 2am check for a few days to see what my Dr says. She still says I am doing awesome, but I am a perfectionist!

My changes have been getting better but some days I still can flux btwn 95-127 in 1.5 hours. Depending on food I eat it can be a higher or lower flux. Then adding being sick, or stressed, changing jobs/house, makes a difference. One day at a time!
