Default How fast does your BG drop?

I had a heavy breakfast today of idli (steamed dumplings made of rice and lentils) and chutney. I usually can manage upto 2 of them and keep my BG around 105 after 2 hours. However, i got tempted and had 3 today. I knew my BG would be higher and when i checked after 2 hours it was 132! I went for a bath and something did not seem right and when i checked (in exactly 10 minutes), it was 121! Can BG drop so quickly? 121 seems a more realistic number taking into consideration the amount of carbs i had. Also, do you wash your hands with warm water everytime you test? I just use normal tempreture tap water. Could the lower reading be because it was after a hot water bath?

I have heard that wash hands with warm water before testing but can it cause such a big difference?

Anything can cause a difference. Your BG can go up in 10-15 minutes and it can go down in 10-15 minutes. Bring in the 20% error allowed on the meters and your rise and fall become almost insignificant. I think you had something still on your fingers before you tested.

Probably! 20% is such a huge margin. It gets difficult to know the correct impact of food

Which is why, outside of readings over 140, many of us use our meters just to track trends. This helps to minimize the impact of the meter error.
