Default Does anyone else use a Precision Xtra meter?

I have a Precision Xtra meter. It's the one that the clinic on Goodfellow AFB gave me at the pharmacy. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it's accurate. I just tested (fasting, I haven't had anything for breakfast), and it read 202. Last night when I tested 2 hours after supper it read 388! When I tested with the One Touch my doctor gave me in his office yesterday, the same 2 hours after supper, it was 195. Seems like the Precision might not be so precise.

I'm going to get my doc to give me a prescription for the test strips, etc. to go with the One Touch just so I can have them. I'm thinking it's more accurate.

I don't use the Precision, although I have used the Freestyle, and always had problems with the accuracy of the Freestyle. They're made by the same company. I got a Freestyle free in the mail. Figured it would be a good spare meter. The meter read 85 every time I used it. I even bought a control solution for it, and it checked fine. Used it for two days, and still said 85 at every reading. I thought somebody was playing a practical joke on me.

My doctor then gave me the same meter, a Freestyle lite after that, as it's one of the ones he prefers. It read lower than my other meter. Although I haven't used the Precision, I seriously question the accuracy of the Freestyle by the same maker.

I hope more people would comment on this. I wonder if not many use the Precision Xtra. I bought it for the blood ketone testing and have been using it as well for blood sugar testing. What I have found is that it is always way higher than my Accu-Chek Active. Just this morning my fasting measure with Precision Xtra was 95 and was 87 with the Accu-Chek.

They say there can be about a 20% variance in the meter readings even with the same meter and different finger sticks at the same time. I just wish that someone could develop a meter that didnt vary more than 5% to give us a more accurate number and give us a true assessment to go on . So between my 2 meters I use the precision's results even though they are higher readings. I figure it is safer for me to use the higher numbers just in case. lol

I have one - I got it free back when we were getting into testing ketones here - but I never got around to using it, and it got put away. Now I haven't been able to find it.
