Default First C-peptide results

Just got the results today from my first C-peptide: .4 ng/mL (fasting). So, I went from thinking *maybe* it could be type 2, to feeling pretty certain it's either LADA or just full blown type 1 already, and my beta cells are probably all dying

My doctor already felt very strongly that I was type 1, being in my early 30's and extremely thin (he didn't even want to do any antibodies tests, he was so convinced). Of course I pushed back, thinking maybe I really was type 2 & insisted on the antibodies tests (those results not in yet). But, after the C-peptide results, I can't pretend any longer that my high blood sugars were just a fluke & I'm not really diabetic (wishful thinking, maybe denial on my part)

Anyways, do you think based on my c-peptide results that I'm right to assume it is definately LADA or type 1? I'm already on insulin (4 units Lantus) which has helped tremendously (along with eating less carbs and exercise).

YEP. Mine was higher than that, 3 yrs ago ... but based on my basal needs, thinking it must be lower now.

Yes, I think that is a correct assumption. You have a good doc.

Thanks for the replies, yes my endo seems pretty smart And, I appreciated him ordering the antibodies test even though he thought it wasn't needed. I'm still curious to see what the antibodies test will show though, since he said some type 1's will be negative for them.
