Default Progress!!

Hi All! I was diagnosed with T2 a month ago. If you have read my previous posts I was not happy with having the diagnosis or all the changes I had to make. I was mourning all the things I can no longer have and generally feeling sorry for myself.
The changes I've made so far is lower carb intake (still have wheat bread and brown rice but no potatos or sugar) and exercised almost everyday.
I am now down 12 pounds! AND my fasting BG is down from 125 to 105 My 2 hour after meal readings have gone from 160-245 down to 117-130. I am on 500mg of Meformin 2x a day. The combination of everything has me heading in the right direction. YAY!
Also I have discoverd a diabetic/sugar free bakery in my area! Wahoo. It is called Just Delicious Sugar Free Bakery and they do ship. So take a look. They are a bit pricey BUT their goodies are very good and very filling. I can only eat one Triple chocolate cookie or half a browning at any given time. But it has satisfied my 'sweet' tooth and cravings for things I shouldn't have.
I am settling into my new way of life nicely now and I am enjoying the 'side-effects' weight loss, energy and a sense of well being.
Just thought I'd update you all

Congrats on all your progress. Awesome. And kudos.

About the bakery. Unfortunately, they don't give nutritional info on the site. Only found one carb reference and it was 5g/cookie. Ouch. Sugar-free doesn't, unfortunately, mean low-carb. But glad it works for you.

Once we have the ingredients, baking is so easy and quick at home - many cookies, cakes, muffins, etc in the recipe section. Lower-carb and no shipping cost

Sounds like you are doing great! You may like our PB fat bombs...they sure 'fix
a sweet tooth!

The only bakery I can eat from is mine, but great for you.

There is a 'Nutritional Facts' link in the right hand column. No there not low carb but I am not following a strictly low carb diet. I limit my carbs to 45-60grams per meal (drastically reduced from what I use to eat) most meals I don't even eat that many carbs, usually around 30 or less per meal, and if I keep within my carb limit I treat myself to a special bakery treat from Just Delicious.
We have Bob's Red Mill close by too, I bought some low carb baking mix and will be trying some of my own creations when I have time.
I don't do well eliminating certain food groups from my diet but I am doing fine reducing those food groups. Moderation is the name of my game right now. If I feel deprived in any way it will not end well. Been there done that and now wearing on XL t-shirt to prove it

Gotcha. Good for you. I'd love to be able to walk into a bakery and say, "I'll have one of these ... and one of those."

You've got Bob's right there, but recently we got the next best thing at my local Costco. They have a whole section of his stuff - pretty large and inclusive. Got a big bag of golden flaxmeal - and almond meal - for much cheaper than I can order it from Amazon or anywhere else. Glad I've got a freezer!

addendum: Found the nutritional info - thanks!

Nice to hear from you again! Glad to hear of your progress!

Sigh, I always get jealous hearing about the great things Costco has in CA!! No Bob's Red Mill section here in MT.... When I was visiting my daughter in CA last week, we made a Costco run, I think it was in Richmond, I didn't see any Bob's there either, but then again, I wasn't really looking!

You were in Richmond and you didn't give a holler? I'm right across the Richmond Bridge in San Rafael. Next time you come visiting, shout out. I'd love to meet one of my fellow Forum friends.
