Default First A1C came back

Had my first a1c test come back after being diagnose back in march with a1c of 14 and BS of 621.

Happy to report it was 5.8....a little low by some "standards" Dr. would like me to be at 6-6.3

That is a great improvement. You will note that many of the members here have A1C's much closer to 5% and like it that way. The closer to normal blood sugars you can get, the fewer complications you will have over time.

So congratulations on that improvement, and treat that as the first successful step of the rest of your healthier life!

Congrats on a great drop. Why would the doctor want you at 6.0-6.3. In fact you should be aiming for 5.3 now. Cool

My Dr is the same way. He is convinced you can't get your A1c to those levels(on insulin) without lots of hypos.
