Default Tingling in Hands

My daughter is 10 years old w/ Type 1. Last week her pinky was tingly for a whole day and today her whole hand has been tingly to the point where she was unable to zip her book bag. Is this normal with Type 1? Should I contact her Doctor?

It's hard to say, but you probably have some information in hand that will help your medical team and you decide on causes: 1) What have been her recent blood sugar readings/tests (higher than target, much lower than target). Very low or very high readings over a period of time might be causing this (very low readings do this to me). Very high readings could be causing damage to nerves or circulation which could cause this. 2) Other possible causes are injuries, illness other than diabetes, or other things.

What data do you have to connect the dots from cause to effect?

By the way,

This could be due to the high blood sugar for long. I have it ever now and then when it is high because I can't control much.

I would advise to keep checking her sugar and inform your doc if it still persists.

A Warm Welcome.
