Default Struggling :(

I have been struggling with diet issues lately. I had my gall bladder removed years ago and the high fat part of my diet is causing problems. So the carbs are creeping back into my diet because I am hungry and my bs numbers are averaging higher then they used to. Has anyone else had issues with the high fat and if so what did you do to correct?

Someone and I'm blank wrote about this and uses a bile product...or maybe more than one. Maybe they'll answer but if not, look in the archives or search for the threads?

Good luck,

I think it's VeeJay, and I think the product is ox bile. You'll have to google it - that's all I know about it.

Yes, it was me. I suffered with chronic diarrhea for YEARS after my gall bladder was removed. Someone on this forum suggest taking bile salts before eating, and WOW - immediate relief.

Bile salts, or ox bile, comes in a capsule and you take it with each meal. Does the trick!

And, if you eat too much at a meal and are still feeling stuffed later on, take another.

My wife has the same problem. She has to take Cholestyramine Resin every day. It's a powder that she mixes with 4oz of juice... She says it is awful, but she's miserable without it.

Cholestramine is a pharmaceutical - it does stop diarrhea, but does so in an unnatural way by binding to the bile and eliminating it. Unabsorbed bile makes it way into the large intestines and causes the diarrhea.

Cholestramine has side effects similar to statins. It also inhibits absorption of certain fat-soluble vitamins and calcium. I took it for a week - it gave me migraines (another side effect). I do know others who have no problem with it. I made the decision not to take it.

The bile salts are natural and have no side effects and I feel they address the underlying problem. I'm happy with them.

I'm sure she'll be trying those... She hates the Cholestyramine pretty bad.
