Default Question about food

Ok, I have been dealing with what seems to be reactive hypoglycemia. So I am trying to figure out what diet makes me feel better. This morning when I woke up the sugar was 5.6. Had breakfast, which was egg whites, 1 sausage, half piece of toast. My sugar one hour after was 5.1
Where did I go wrong?

You didn't go wrong except assuming 5.1 being hypo. In the low 5's is high for some.

Edit:
I do wonder about the 1/2 piece of toast though. Test at 2 hours PP.

Just tested at the 2 hour mark and was the same 5.1
Do you think I should leave the toast out?

Your 5.1 figure is fine. You may feel a little uncomfortable with it because you are used to being a lot higher.

I've two issues with your meal. You had egg whites? What happened to the good healthy yolks?

The toast is carbohydrate but with lots of butter (real butter not a "low fat substitute", you may be able to cope with it.

In summary, your meal seemed to be focused on protein and carbohydrate. You will get better results with fats.

I agree with John's comments. I personally wouldn't eat toast. Carbs in the morning don't agree with me and I am at my self-imposed limit for breakfast with the little there is in eggs and HWC.

LCHF is the best thing for RH. But, 5.1 is not a hypo. I feel best in the 4s, myself.

Definitely do away with the toast and eat the yolks.

5.1 and 5.6 are within the 20% fluctuation zone for most meters. They could be considered the same.

Even 4.0 would not be considered a hypo. It would feel like it, though, if BG was coming down from the heights.

How did you feel with that stable 5.6/5.1 level? Any hypo symptoms?

I felt fine. As the day went on I avoided breads, rice and pasta and felt much better. A bit of a headache, but I think I read that happens when you are turning diet into low carb/ high fat.
