Default When eating LCHF.....

Is it important to keep your macros for every meal, or is it sufficient to make your percentages at the end of the day? I can get my fats in at breakfast, but fall short at lunch and dinner sometimes. Will it hurt if my numbers overall are where they need to be at the end of the day, if they are off a bit throughout the day?

Like most of these issues, the answer is "it depends...". How big was the skew? and which meal got the overload?... For instance, I would try to avoid it being the last meal of the day that gets the carb load.

Think again of Bernstein's "law of small numbers". The bigger the load, the nastier it gets when it gets badly skewed.

Only way to know for sure is a blood ketone meter. Also, if you find your energy is down, that would make me suspect a "yes" answer, too. I get more fat at breakfast than the other two meals, too, but both the day as a whole and each meal is within my parameters. In other words, don't "skew" too much.

Default Thanks gents...

I don't get to far off base usually, where I run into trouble is the excessive calories it takes to keep up the fats throughout the day. I have no probs with adding fats per se, it's the cals which I am worried about in the later meals adding up.

Also, carbs are always restricted. The lower percentages come from restricting fat a bit because my cals are getting high.

Frankly, I have serious doubts about the significance of the calorie value. I don't think a few hundred extra calories would make much difference.
