Default Carbs and Bloating

I'm not diagnosed with anything but did have slight elevated BG levels that my Cardiologist picked up on and wanted me to submit a BG test within the next year. I managing this myself without medical intervention.

I took a close look at my diet 3 weeks ago and notice I was very carb heavy. What I thought was healthy was raising my BL levels. Lots of beans, lentles, lots of whole wheat products, grape nuts, lots of fruit, etc.

I got away from this and started doing very low carb and upping fats. The FG came down immediately and most 1 and 2 hour post meal readings look very good. I may try to get into full ketosis, still studying that.

Concerning this post, yesterday I had 1/2 can chili with beans smothering kielbasa, water for lunch, pretty carb heavy. Then a small sweet potato, spinach, broccoli, small beef steak, water for dinner.

2 hr + testing @ lunch was 70, 2 hr+ dinner 95. A while after dinner my stomach was distended and I felt really bloated and overall not terribly well. I was also really hungry and wanted to eat again, just like on my heavy carb diet previously. I attribute the to carbs. Over the several years, I'd notice I would bloat after eating. My wife would notice it as well and sometimes comment I hardly ate anything and looked stuffed.

I've found a few heavy carb foods in small portions will cause me to bloat, not feel very well, and want to make me eat more. This is a very good case NOT to eat them. They did not seem to upset my BL to above normal limits. Also, my fasting BG have been in the 80-90 range for 10 days. Thank you all for your help and guidance.

Yep, carbs cause bloating for me too! Amazing how "gas" issues have cleared up since I cleared them out!

Same here - in fact, all the digestive issues I'd had for years before have completely cleared up with LCHF. No more bloat, belch, reflux, flatulence . . . it always got blamed on fats before, and who knew? It was carbs all the time.
