Fbg 7.4 - 7.6 wt?!

My FBG has been in the 5's this week but this morning I tested a 7.4. I thought it must be a meter error so I re-tested and got a 7.6.

The only different thing I did last night was I ate a midnight snack of cheese and pecans. I've already tested pecans and I'm ok. Could eating unusually late raise my FBG? I've been averaging around 1600-1800 cals per day but ended up consuming over 2000 yesterday. I feel woeful this morning, like I've eaten too much.

I also have a boil (doesn't need med attention yet). Yesterday it was red and tender but I've been attending to it diligently washing it with antiseptic and covering it. I have anti-biotics but I don't feel I need to take them as the boil has improved today. I don't think I have a temp. I tried taking my temp this morning but my digital thermometer is acting weird. The heatwave probably knocked it out. The heatwave probably caused the boil too. Oh yes the gift that keeps on giving.

Other than that I have no logical reasoning to explain my high FBG. I ate around 80% fat and less than 30g of carbs yesterday.

Extreme temperatures can cause things to go wonky. Of course it could just be one of those wha??? Moments

It's not extreme now, in fact we have had perfect weather. I'll take it as a 'wha??' moment. It's less stressful that way.

But I won't be eating so late at night again. I feel like I have a hangover. I'd rather have a hangover due to a nice glass of wine than cheese and pecans!

I tested before my first meal of the day 7.5. Then I had keto-yogurt and 5 pecans. 1 hour later 7.7.

It will be really interesting how far I come down 2 hours later.

It's just one of those days.

I can't eat very late at night or else I am guaranteed a FBS of at least 120 or higher. This includes all foods, even very low carb foods.

I guess it's just another example of how different things effect different people. I saw others commenting on how they found that a snack before bed helped DP so I tried cheese or a fat bomb and it seems to cause my FBG to be higher. Part of the learning experience.

It definitely is. Some people can eat a high fat dinner and have a lower FBS and others must have a snack before bed to prevent a high. I've also found that it has changed on me, from time-to-time. After diagnosis, when things were settling down, I had to have a small snack before bed or I woke up to 160+. After several months of LCHF eating and my baseline blood sugar dropping, I then found that late night snacks sent my FBS soaring. I can't tolerate much of anything except coffee (not HF) or diet soda after dinner. Frustrating!

That boil? :attention:

Infections of any type seems to be the most effective way of pushing up my blood glucose figures - and it usually happens before I know I've got any symptoms.

FBG 7.1

The lowest number I got to yesterday was 6.9 just before bed. I had dinner and didn't eat again so I can't blame having a midnight snack for my high number.

John, I think you could be right about the boil. I've been diligent with eating LCHF. I started the course of anti-biotics last night and the boil has improved, well the skin surrounding it isn't so red and inflamed. I feel woeful so I'd say this infection has affected my BG.

An infection will boost your BG up for sure. I would wait and see how it is after the boil has healed. You have my sympathy, ow.
