Childhood Obesity and Double Diabetes

This is the first article I have seen that uses the term "double diabetes". I am an adult with double diabetes, but many children have the problem too. I lost my extra weight and my diabetes health greatly improved. I hope it will be the same with these children.

What a nightmare! Especially with children.

Did your DD coincide with your childhood DX? Or did it develop later/over time?

My DD occurred in the 1990s when I switched from animal insulin to modern day insulin. I was in my 50s at that time.

Makes sense, the low fat/high carb diet recommended by doctors today is resulting in fatter everyone, including children, so of course when they lose some weight with Type 1 it might not be even detected as diabetes as quickly, and they may still be obese when they're diagnosed. Sad.
