Default Interesting Endo Appointment

I had a very good Endo appointment today. Less than a year and a half after diagnosis, 50 lbs down and all my bloodwork is in the normal range and my A1C is 5.6! (Previous was 5.9, 5.8). My Endo fully supports my LC/HF (keto) diet, as my labs have progressed so well. Just another case that proves this diet not only regulates BG, but improves cholesterol and other labs.
The interesting thing was related to my LADA prognosis. He is convinced that my diabetes was triggered by celiac disease, and the gluten free diet I have essentially been doing will likely contribute to a lengthened or indefinite honeymoon period. Basically, if I continue to treat the celiac disease, I may not be headed for insulin dependence for many years, if at all. My Endo definitely is on the cutting edge of a number of autoimmune things and he says he is starting to put the pieces together. There are some more extreme docs that are supposedly saying that gluten should be eliminated for the general population as well, but my Endo wouldn't go that far right now.

Patdart, MAO and Mollie like this.

Nice! Well, if avoiding gluten helps you, then that's good enough. Way to go!
