Default I know the REAL answer but have to ask ...

because Im not sure.

I know alcohol of any kind is on the no go list.

However, I will be attending our yearly Motorcycle group dinner and may want to have one or two.

Is one option better than another ... beer better than wine, hard liquor better than beer ... I would imagine beer would be the last option ...

But .. If I choose to cheat, I want at least to make the best choice if there is such a thing.

Thanks

The best options in my opinion from best to worst are hard liquar with no sweet mixers, dry wine, and then beer.

I agree with Adjitater . . .

alcohol can even cause you to go low, so be sure to eat while you're drinking. There are low-carb beers, if that is your choice. Dry wine is fairly low carb too, and all distilled spirits are essential zero-carb, as long as you don't mix it with anything.

Avoid the mixers. Club soda, diet tonic water, other diet soft drinks would be okay, but only if you could be certain that they actually ARE diet.

I have not been drinking for a couple of months b/c I'm doing a test to see if my occasional alcohol use has affected my trigs. But, normally, I will drink a low carb beer or two like Ultra a couple of times a week. Or, sometimes a glass of red wine. It doesn't seem to create any problems for me (T2 on insulin) in those frequencies/amounts.

I don't drink, but if I was in your situation, I would have one, but it would be something that I really wanted. I don't know anything about beer, wine or hard liquor so I don't know the carb content of anything.
