Default Whoa 70, at 10:30 am ....

Last night, I skipped my supper -- just had a bowl of Marty's "cereal" instead. So I skipped my rapid insulin too.

Took my usual levemir dose ... and almost went HYPO this morning!

Just 20 min before my scheduled lunch, so I ate.

But I guess the higher dose of Lev does work beyond my DP time!

Holding even at 100, 2 hours post-peanuts. WOW this is a new experience!

Must be one of those weird LADA moments everyone talks about ...

Insulin has such a thing here we call a "tail". That means that if your insulin is said to be active for 2 hours and spike after 30 minutes, your insulin is still actually active (though not as much as to make significant differences under normal circumstances) for a bit longer. This is something you need to account for when you skip meals. When was your last injection? What injections you do afterwards? For example if you eat and forget your injection, but remember a few hours later, the needed bolus will be slightly lower than normal pre-meal.

Also, if you skip a meal remember that there are other factors that either lower your BG or make your organism take carbs in slower/faster which can cause your base injections to have different effects (in your case a hypo)

Thanks, Vytautas, I am well aware of the tail ... but this was, like 16 hrs out! And new to me ... I am using only 2 injections per day -- 1 of Levemir, one of Novolog, at the same time (but different sites).
