Default Grain Brain and Wheat Belly

Two very interesting reads, especially for us.
I always buy my books on and download them to my phone so I can speed them up to double speed and listen to them over and over while I'm driving, rowing, gardeneing or almost anything else.

wm, 70, 6' 2", 150, very fit competitive rower
Dx none and trying to dodge it, meds none
A1c 5.7, FBG 99, FI 2.3, Total Cho 185, tri 90, HDL 60, LDL 107, Vit D 81, BP 100/50, resting HR 36, max 175, carotid intima thickness (IMT) right=.77, left=.78
May 1, 2014 began LCHF, stopped statin
goal = 5.0 A1c with good lipids

Both of these books should be taken very seriously, not only by us - the diabetic population, but by every consumer. Carbs in general, and wheat specifically are doing us no favors. The food industry adds it to everything because it's cheap. We need to put a higher price on our health and wellbeing.

I've read about and articles by the authors but not the books. I believe they get it!

Self diagnosed 11/'13, eating LCHF, Ketogenic. My Cardiologist is trying to help me manage my BG levels as I have no PCP

Dr Davis is among the pioneers of the low carb movement and needs to be commended for the courage. Dr. Perlmutter is a bit of a latecomer. But hey, it takes courage to stand up against the tide and risk being labeled "insane" or lose your practicing license as many doctors have. Kudos to both of them.

One from a cardiology standpoint, the other from a neurology standpoint ... what more do you need ... ? Reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.
