Default Eating Out

Eating out tonight, so I have had a look at their menu online. I just want to be aware of what's available and make a sensible choice. Think I will stick with a Prime Rib steak covered with avocado and bearnaise sauce. Side salad of greens
Any issues with the sauce do you think?

There's no telling how restaurant chefs might make their bearnaise sauce, but the traditional composition of it should present no problems - it's simply egg & butter, made about the same as hollandaise, only seasoned with herbs instead of lemon juice.

You could ask how they make it, and if they add thickeners or emulsifiers - or if they make it from a packet of commercial ingredients, then those could spike your blood sugar.

I always explain my eating restrictions to the server, then ask 'can I eat this?' Usually the server takes notes then goes to talk to the cook/chef.

Usually my guess is good. Sometimes I get warned away from what looked like a safe choice. In that case, the chef usually sends recommendations back via the server.

It's all good.

That sounds like a delicious meal! I hope it works out.

I would tell them the steak without the bearnaise sauce. You never know what lerks the kitchens in restaurants...

Or ask for the sauce on the side?
Then a taste test might show it is ok.

I always ask for sauce on the side…or dressing. I find I use less of it than if they place it as well as giving me the option of tasting.
