Default Keeping on track when traveling

So In my last post I was asking about staying motivated to keep on our DB program. So here is the next one. I find for me I need to stay in a rhythm to stay in sync with raking all my meds and do my testing, and then I keep food in my house that won't mess up my BG readings. For the last couple of days I have had to travel from my beautiful state of Alaska down to the lower 48 for my daughters graduation. From the red eye flight my schedule has been a mess. My meds are all-out of sync. I had a terrible headache and then I realized I had misses my meds and my water intake is way off to.
I have a place for my pills and my meter at home so that I won't forget them.
How do you deal with this when you travel? I half scared to test my BG because I'm sure it will be bad.
