Default You guys get an A+

Went to a new endocrinologist today and she is amazing. She heartily approved of the LCHF, although she tends to recommend less dairy. She said everything I am doing (i.e, what I read here) is what she would have recommended... LCHF, eating to the meter, exercise... She is going to test my c-peptide and GAD antibodies because of my lack of type 2 risk factors. She confirmed my wild ups and downs are reactive hypoglycemia and it can lead or has already lead to diabetes. She said my a1c of 5.6 and low FBG indicates what I already know - big spikes up followed by lows. She said anyone with thyroid issues should also eat a more paleo type diet. She really was thorough, listened to me and gave all kinds of great advice on other issues. If you are not happy with your doctor, keep looking. She is a 30 minute drive away, but is worth it.

Then when I was at another appt, I opened up a Diabetic Living magazine and what do I see? Ciabatta rolls, corn tortillas, oatmeal, brown rice! Are you kidding me?

Good for you Shelley, you found a great dr!! Hang on to that one.

Yeah, the Diabetic Living (Dying) mag is nothing but ADA "carbage"!! It is really a shame.

I'm totally jealous. Melbourne is too far for me to drive. The closest endo to me is about 45-50 mins away and he thinks Actos is the cats meow.
