Want to check your 1str phase insulin response as well as sensitivity ,depletion and resistance IMO very easy here's how I do it

Go to the pharmacy and get 40 gm of pure glucose, now you will need five test strips. I created a graph to show you how mine looks you will note at the 30 min marker a 11.6 mmol/l spike(multiply by 18 ) to ge t209 mg/dl.

This is a very high spike yet all is good at the 1hr 1.5 hr and 2hr markers.
Since I have quite acceptable numbers at the 1 and 2 hour timings it suggest to me that my problem is 1st phase insulin release .

Cool! That indicates to me that you are a beginning type 2 diabetic because at 90 minutes you are dropping lower than the original level. This indicates to me that you still have sufficient insulin capabilities but may be suffering from mild autonomic neuropathy. Some of us get (on our own in the USA at Walmart) some fast acting/regular insulin to inject one half hour before meals to blunt that spike, thus preventing that spike from further damaging our autonomic nervous system.

So are you undiagnosed or a beginning type 2 diabetic?

Any anti-diabetic medications?

Have you had a recent A1c test?

This is of course just the opinion of an ignorant old hillbilly :p

I have been diabetic for 7 years FBG 13.6 mmol/l 245mg/dl
Metformin 500x2
Last A1c 5.1

Why do you feel it is indicative of autonomic neuropathy?
Why do you feel going below baseline and then returning is the beginning stages of diabetes I thought it was a good return to my baseline?
