Default Feeling terrible this morning-Metformin?

Hello all,

I always make sure to take my Metformin with dinner. Last night I forgot for a couple of hours, then took it at 10pm, and went to bed. As of this morning, I have stomach pain, nausea, bloating, and very bad 'bathroom issues' ... I'm stuck at work far from home and very nervous. Could this be the Metformin, and will this pass?? Please help!

Very probable it's the met. And it should pass. I do feel for you however and hope it's gets better as the day progresses.

I found that I ALWAYS must take metformin with food. Better to skip it or just eat a small amount than to take it on an empty stomach. Have you eaten this morning? Don't skip another meal or it might get worse.

Thanks guys. I had eaten a little before it all started, but it still got worse before it got better. Last night I did think gee, should I just skip it, or eat more and then take it? Well, I got my answer in spades! I think I might skip it tonight just to give my system time to not feel weird anymore. The 'episodes' stopped by lunch time, but I'm still not feeling 100%... this is one mistake I will NEVER make again!!

Yeah. Lessons learned the hard way are very effective. I've had to learn a few of these myself.
