Default update

went to see my recently obtained NP and his RN
she gave me (the rn) my own testing scedule
and we discussed how to treat my lows
and discussed side effects that i was concerned
about regarding the diamicron
she or the pharmasist or the NP didnt think my side effects were
due to the med.
but i am being sent for tests
because i am having some heart related issues
has anyone had any problems with this med?
it has helped my levels improve
but i dont need any bad issues from side effects

And no tests after meals? Without these you can't see the impact of your meals and medication.

Aren't the people who are treating us suppose to know something as simple as that? There's a reason I don't put much faith in the recommendations of my doctor, let alone an RN or a NP. I had a doctor years ago put me on the same testing schedule (fasting and before meals only). Needless to say, very few answers were found. Testing after meals is paramount.

Unhappy

not sure what to do now
i was given a test schedule as explained
previously
and i called to ask for more test strips to enable me
to do the tests
but the pharmacy tells me i may not get the test strips
covered for the 4 tests and my post meal tests
the thing is i am allowed 3000 strips/year
thats 8x daily i only need 6-7 a day
how am i supposed to take care of myself
if they disempower me?
do i need a note from the RN to give
the pharmacy to be allowed more strips?
and if she says only 4 is necessary how will i do
my post meal tests?
im feeling very frustrated
i tried the relion metres and strips earlier
as they were affordable but the difference in readings was so
high i stopped (after taking into account the 18 factor)
any ideas?

I'm confused.

You are "allowed" 3000 strips per year by whom?

And if you are "allowed" that many, why won't the pharmacy issue them?

What am I missing?

my insurance covers 3000 test strips a year for insulin users
not sure what the pharmacies issue is
possibly i have to prove i need whatever amount of strips
i'm picking up
which is ok and makes sense

if i cant get them all then i will just switch the schedule to do post meals
and skip the pre meals the rn wanted

having some trouble getting before meal tests
because i'm a grazer- not a sit down 3 times a day
meal person
so when's lunch and supper? and i go purely
by hunger not what time a clock says
i've been just guessing when to test
is there a certain amount of food eaten that counts
as a lunch or supper?
