Default Rx's and higher blood sugar

I need help and don't know where to turn. Through a set of medical circumstances that happened over the past 4-6 months, I now find myself needing to take 'hormone' treatments for at least 6 months. The gynecologist is aware of my various medical conditions, but I don't think she fully understands the scope of what it takes to have good diabetes control.

The hormone I am taking is called medroxyprogesterone and it does present me with a whole new set of problems. I looked in Mosby's Nursing Drug Reference for side effects and found, among others, "hyperglycemia". My fbg went from 80-90 to 143 this morning and that is with my insulin coming from my insulin pump.

How do I manage the higher fbg and having to take this 'new' medicine? I asked the Dr. and all she said was "do your best".
Thanks for any suggestions you may share.

I have noticed that my bg goes up when I take my meds, though not as much as yours. I take metformin as my only diabetic drug. The rest are for allergies/asthma and include steroids. Can your insulin dose be adjusted during the time you need to take the hormones? I don't know anything about insulin pumps. Is it supposed to be self adjusting? Maybe you need to talk to the person who ordered the insulin pump? I wish you well.
