As said
I am on a pump... AMG what a can of worms this is. The hospital is having a S--- fit over this, 3 days 5 phone calls and finely they have called in an endo who after a 15 minute phone call is going to tell ME what settings to use on the pump . Ive managed my BG just fine for 16 years without getting approval first from an endo. Ive been in the hospital 3 times with the pump and told them I would manage my BG... no problem. I had rotater-cuff surgery (MDI at the time, told them I would manage my BG... no problem) NOW BIG PROBLEM.. the endo kept telling me that I need to make changes to my basil program since I wont be eating before the surgery. UMmmm eating or not does not change basil settings that is BOLUS for eating------- and that was the endo (sheeesh go to SCHOOL)

I would find out how many patients he treats who are in successful control on insulin pumps. I wish you the best. I suppose your own endo wont go to the hospital, like ours.

Hospitals shouldn't be such scary places for diabetics! How long will you have to stay in?

Hope the procedure goes well - and that you're out really really quickly!

I had an unexpected hospital stay last winter, and was delighted to learn hospitals are moving away from set meals towards concierge service. Was given a (huge!) menu to order whatever, whenever - and the food was very good. They even made omelets to order with whatever ingredients one wanted. No more crazy high-carb 'diabetic' meals ...

Here's hoping your hosp has that ...
