I've read your journey with interest--congratulations! I am currently trying to get back on track and wonder if you can share some of what you've done? What you're eating, how you deal with cravings, what kind of exercise? I would find it inspiring and helpful; maybe others will too. Thanks!

I appreciate the kind words... I was diagnosed in late march and started this journey April 4th. i played around with LC/HF for the first month and then went to VLC/HF (Ketosis). My meals are something like this

Breakfast - Coffee , Spinach omelet with Bacon and cheese
Lunch - usually a salad (Spinach, cucumber, hard boiled egg, asparagus, cheese - Oil and vinegar dressing - salt and pepper)

Dinner - usually a protein like steak, chicken or pork cooked in butter or coconut oil and with broccoli or string beans .

I really dont have any cravings except maybe at night after dinner and when I do I either eat cheese, take a spoon full of sour cream or have a harvest bar (4 net carbs). Most of the time I am too full and have skipped meals so the cravings are gone.

I have not eaten any fruit, bread, pasta, junk food, rice, potatoes or anything processed in months. (I used to have a piece of fruit but I cut it out long ago).

I didnt exercise at first but I did as much walking as I could. I tried to walk 10,000 steps a day. I would say at first I would hit 10,000 5 days a week. I am now at 15,000 steps a day for at least 6 days and I am in the gym on the treadmill 3 times a week minimum jogging 4 miles at 4.5 mph. I also just started walking up stairs at my office twice a day (from the 14th floor to the 22nd and then back down).

I am currently at a sticking point in my weight and I am trying intermittent fasting and I hope I can break my current barrier (its my first real sticking point).

Blood sugar has not been a problem since I went to the doctor in April. I check once every few days right now because I don't think there will be a problem with my diet. if my body changes, checking a few times a week will be enough to pick it up. I just went to my endo last week and my BG was 79 in the late afternoon.

I think thats about all I am doing. I was a size 46 jeans on april 4th. and now I am a 36. I was also a 3X shirt and now I am a large.

good luck with your journey and if you have any questions, I would be happy to let you know what I did. This site also provided a great help to me and guided me to fine tuning what I needed to do

It looks like it took a few years off your age too. Congrats on the accomplishment.
