expiration dates on test strips

Default expiration dates on test strips

i have soon the are ready to expire. i know the mfg. has to put dates on them but is it that critical? (one touch ultra)

don't really get your question ? can you use them ? probably yes, if they are not exposed to sunlight or extreme weather.

I would think that the manufacturer would have a little leeway in the dates. What I think is that the strip readings are guaranteed up to the expiration date. After that no guarantees, but I don't think it's like a light switch where overnight they're all of a sudden duds.

If you don't have too many left, I would keep using them for a little while but if you feel that the results are wonky and not quite right, toss 'em .

I would probably use strips up to a year after the date. I personally think the expiration date is a bit of manufacturers covering their butts and a bit of them trying to ensure we don't find a great sale and stock up. :P

And making sure we throw them out and buy more when we find they are out-of-date. Paracetamol, for example, doesn't go off, but every packet you buy has an expiry date on it.
