Default Dramatic improvement!

On Friday I went to the doctor to arrange for my first quarterly HbA1c since diagnosis, and arranged for my cholesterol to be tested at the same time.

I just checked online and while the doctor hasn't released my HbA1c, my cholesterol results were available.

Note here that I haven't been on any cholesterol-lowering medication for nearly 2 years, because the last medication I was taking, Lipidil, sent me to the verge of complete kidney failure. Crestor had given me muscle pain, so I was left with no further options.

So - drumroll - here are my figures for 4/2/2012 with the previous figures (28/10/2011):

Cholesterol: 6.4 (6.9) = -0.5
Triglycerides: 0.8 (1.9) = -1.1!
HDL: 2.16 (1.77) = +0.39
LDL: 3.49 (5.04) = -1.55
Total/HDL: 3.0 (3.9) = -0.9

I am absolutely stoked about this. Especially the Triglycerides. And it totally vindicates the LC/HF diet I've been sticking to. Of course, it's easier to stick to it when the only carbs in the house are those in green vegies, walnuts and almonds. And tomatoes. I cannot live without eating tomatoes.

This lot will be going into my sig!

That's so very gratifying, to say the least. Stupendous is what it is. While the actual numbers are different from the values we in the US see, math is math and I see the sea change!

Congrats Ann. Well-deserved. Whew!

Thanks, Shanny. I was hoping for some of the figures to improve, but resigned to some of them not doing so. I can't believe the difference!

Thanks, moon. I could hardly believe the numbers while I was checking them. And I can't wait to discuss them with the doctor.

Because I couldn't help myself, here are the values translated for your USA admirers:

........ Now (3 months ago)

Cholesterol: 247 (267)
Triglycerides: 71 (168)
HDL: 84 (68)
LDL: 135 (195)

And <drum roll> ...

Trig/HDL ratio (<2 is ideal): .84 (2.48) yes, really!

Humhum and AnnC like this.

Thanks for doing that, moon! It makes me feel even better because I've seen so many results posted here in the US format.
