I've read that Synthroid gives a good test (lab) pattern, but not a real pattern. I'm on that and wonder how valid the test results are? At first, my doctor put me on a 3+4 mix, but when after 6 months it showed too little change, she changed me to Synthoid, but I wonder if Armour would be move effective. Any thoughts about that, gang?

I should prob'ly research this further. I've only ever been on levothyroxine (Synthroid) in ever increasing doses, and all Doc ever checks is TSH.

I take levothyroxine too, same dose for the past 15 years. A while ago it came back low and I added T3 for a few months, but after spending several sleepless weeks where I was hot all the time and had a lot of arrthymnias, I finally realized "aha, I'm hypermetabolic!" Dropped the T3 and now feel normal again.

Wife was on Synthroid, but soon switched to Armour. The Armour for her has been highly effective. It does contain a certain amount of T3. She takes 2, 60mg in the morning, 1, 60mg at lunch and 2, 60mg at dinner. When she is tested we do TSH, free and total T3/T4, its the only way to get a good picture of whats going on.

Control is with Diet modification, exercise, supps.
