Well Sam, this site is all about managing HIGH blood sugar. Perhaps you should be looking for a forum ABOUT low blood sugar. Go to Google and search for hypoglycemia.
I think if you have frequent bouts of blood sugar it indicates something is wrong with your endocrine system. Are you diabetic? Do you test your bgs when you think you are low? Many times a bg low will follow a bg high. When you have Insulin Resistance sometimes you pancreas makes way too much insulin in response to eating carbs so it crashes your bgs. The only way to control this is to limit the amount of carbs you eat. No carbs = No spike = No bg crash.
Many years before I developed diabetes, I suffered from frequent hypoglycemia. I did some research and found that a low-carb diet was what it took to keep the frequency down. One thing that helped me then was to drink a protein drink first thing in the morning just after getting up.
I know more now than I did then. My "natural treatment" now would be - a low carb/high fat diet - rather than high protein and low'ish fat like I did then. I am convinced that if I had taken the hypoglycemia seriously, and stayed on low carb and gone high fat - I wouldn't have developed diabetes years later.
It's a mental, problem solving game. If you don't manage your diabetes, you're destined for trouble. I know. I've been 911'd nine times for hypoglycemia. My regimen rarely allows for hypos to creep in, and when they do, they are much less severe.
Hello, VeeJay.
I also have the hypoglycemia problem. I am taking my insulin regularly but sometimes it may cause for increase in weight. Therefore, I am looking for a natural treatment which will help me to control blood sugar level and also help me in weight loss and management. Friends thanks for your suggestions.
Since you said this is GD, and your first pregnancy, how far along are you and what advice has your doctor given you? For a primapera, I would think you would be consulting frequently with your doctor.
Whenever I get a low I usually eat a chocolate candy or pop glucose tablets. I carry both with me at all times. Fortunately, I can always feel one coming on know exactly what to do.
