Default questions for you to answer!

i am on 2000mg aday metformin, granny dose of gliburide 2.5 mgs at brfst 2.5 mgs at dinner and im off the insulin for now.when am i going to get my energy back? i cant even work right now im so tired, my numbers are for the most part single digets. i eat better. i have 4 boys so im fairly active. my body is sensitive to the drugs and reacting good as far as my numbers are concerned.

the doc told me that the insulin that im making is 510 ?? (not sure of the jargin) and i might be on a downward spiral and that i could develope type 1 or that im a type 1 and not insulin resitant yet. so im off the insulin to see if all is ok and i stay healthy. i see my diabetes dr and my famliy dr tomorrow. this is day 2 for no insulin and i feel ok so far. what are the numbers that make a type 1 as far as the insulin that the body makes? thanks for all your help and advise. both my wife and i are praying for the best.

Well, the reason I didn't reply is because I can't really answer anything for you. You are doing right by going to the doctor to be evaluated. I can't guess what is going on with you but you doctor will be able to determine what is going on by doing some tests and seeing how your numbers are with no insulin injections.

Hello endtimer. I don't understand the "510" representing the insulin you are making. I am not familiar with that. I did not know what to say. I hope that the medication continues to work well for you. I have been type 1 for 63 years and I am doing vey well. You should be able to be there for your boys and be healthy as well. Keep seeing your doctors and take care of yourself. Good luck to you!

dr. says i have both type 1 and 2, the new terminology here in Canada is type 1.5 my pancreas is on its way out and its only a matter of time till im on the needle full time. i have lost 20 lbs in just 10 days. the metformin is suppressing my appetite. and my body has been on a sugar high for years and it been beat up and now its trying to recover and it could take awhile. what i meant by 510 is thats the amonth of insulin that my body is making and when and if i go below that number(500) then i will be a type 1. if you'er a type 1 you are not making any or not enough insulin to help regulate your blood gulcose levels. and they test to see how much your making. im not familiar with all the jargon yet. what is that test called? trisomthinorother?

In the mid 1990's I gained 57 pounds after my doctor had me use Humalog insulin. I then developed insulin resistance due to the weight gain. Insulin resistance is a Type 2 characteristic so I had both Type 1 and Type 2. I now have what is called "double diabetes". I have lost half of that weight but even if I lose all the weight I had gained I will still be a double diabetic. The damage was done by the weight gain and losing the weight will not repair that damage. I take a Type 2 medication (Avandia) and continue with my insulin. I am very healthy though and have no diabetes related complications except for some minor nerve damage.

I am telling you this so you can see that there are people with both Type 1 and Type 2. That can happen in different ways.
