I see I can order a docking pad and cable for it as well as a glucose control solution--none of which are available from Walgreens. I've never used either, but I think I'll try them.
"insurance mandated walgreens"

Please explain further. The idea of big corporations dictating treatment methods and practicing medicine without a license is scary to me.

My insurance provides certain test strips with a copay of $15. If I use other strips it's a copay of $80. This is the only meter at Walgreens that is approved for the cheaper strips.
If I wanted to keep using my Accu-Chek Nano I would pay $80 for each prescription. The meter and the lancets are free in any case.

Well thank you because I am done with Walgreens, if you haven't read my thread on it my last visit was when I needed syringes and they expected me to ride my bike a mile round trip in Florida sun get ID and put my name in there log book of IV drug user suspects they do who knows what with. They knew my face and name for years as I picked up 50 prescriptions there before without ID. No way insurance making me shop there.

Do you buy syringes at Walgreens and if so does the one by you do the ID check and put you in the database thing ? Corporate refused to tell me if it was all stores doing that.

It's not just Walgreens. I've experienced the same at CVS (not necessarily items for diabetes care) and with the mail-order providers other health insurers work with.

It's called the "formulary" and pretty much every insurer in the U.S. (if not the world through national medical plans) has one: a declaration of which procedures and medications/equipment they will pay for/subsidize. If you want something else, fine, but the cost of that is on you.

It is possible to challenge formulary but it is not easy to do, especially for an item as fungible as a BG meter and strips. Better to save the energy for something else.

Ob BG measurement: 128 this morning. Would have repeated the test but I was on the last strip of that vial and it's close enough to my usual morning reading that it wasn't worth wasting a strip.

No, so far I don't have to inject anything. My Walgreens is pretty cool--some of the pharmacy staff even remember BH and me. Sorry yours is not as easy to deal with. I know they're not all the same.

A 113 this morning. Still awake at 2 AM and broke the seal on a can of mixed nuts.
