117 slight improvement from yesterday thought it would be lower considering all the weed trimming I did yesterday evening. May get a delivery of hay on Sunday; 200 bales; if that happens I will check before and after for kicks and giggles.

Best,

117 again this morning at around 5 am. Experiment to follow soon; have an 180 bales of hay scheduled for delivery in about 2 hours. Still fasting but had some black coffee this morning. No change so far in glucose level. Will check after moving and stacking the hay and let you know what the effect of my glucose levels are at that time.

Best,
fjk2013

Don't be surprised if your liver kicks in and dumps some glucose as your BG lowers. It might be interesting to test every hour during your hay bale workout.

I understand that the stored glycogen in muscles will be released during heavy exercise, as well.

May not be too bad just unloading and stacking. Walking thru the field in the hot sun, picking up the bales, chunking them on the trailer, get on the trailer and stack those you can't put in place from the ground, drive the truck and trailer up to near some more bales, repeat until the trailer is loaded, then take them to the barn, unload off the trailer, stacking in the barn. Although not in the sun when unloading, there's not usually much air movement in where you store your hay and that can make it as bad as being out in the sun where there might be a little breeze. Now that's hay hauling.

It helps to have a driver, a stacker, and another hauler in getting the job done quicker, but unless the driving job rotates, there is no rest. Last time I hauled hay I got way too hot and my BG shot up and stayed high for several days. I blamed it on cortisol.

OK, just wrapped up after a little over an hour workout in the hot humid barn. I just had to pick up; walk and stack over a distance of about 30-50 feet within the barn a total of 180 bales of second cut orchard grass hay. I weighed a few bales and they ranged from a low of 60 pounds to a high of 67 pounds per bale.

My morning number was 117 and for some reason thought it should drop by a good amount. But my number now is 120.

Before I read your comment VeeJay I was scratching my head wondering; but what you say makes sense.

Thanks for the input. There is benefit with the workout I just was expecting to see instant gratification.

Best,
fjk2013

When I get overheated my BG rises quite a bit. Of course, I do call myself “sweat queen” for a reason

Maybe the benefit will be seen with lower FBG tomorrow.
