Mine was terrible this morning - but fortunately is not the norm measuring in at 260. So I gave myself 10 units of humulog - drank water and fasted till lunch where my BGs were back in to the normal range. I did a power walk at lunch under 80 F sunny weather and I suspect I will be going swimming at the Beach after work - so even though I started at a high BG level I suspect the rest of the day will be just fine.

My fasting Glucose reading was 136 this morning. Read on the Web it takes ten years or even decades for damage to show up but usually 10 to 20 years on average. So I have 9 or 8 years to eat what I want.... then buckle down.
But I eat and always have vegi’s and fruit. Along with some bad stuff. I think it’s too soon to panic about anything because of my low numbers. Right??

Ratter51, I don't know as I'd use the word "panic". I might use the phrase "be concerned" or "be watchful".

Have you ever seen someone cut down a tree with an axe? Most trees can handle the first few whacks. But, eventually, all the cuts leave the tree without enough wood to stay upright and alive. It's not like anyone could paste the wood chips back onto the trunk and get a healthy tree back. The damage has been done.

Most of us here trust the scientific research that blood glucose of 140 or higher (especially in people with pre-diabetes or Type 2 diabetes) damages the body. So we handle spikes over 140 the way trees handle axe cuts. A few "hits" don't cause that much harm. But repeated spikes or axe strikes -- no way of knowing just how many it takes -- cause a lot of damage and there is no getting back what was there before.

So we eat carefully and test our BG frequently and do what we can to keep diabetes from damaging our bodies. Think of it like slowing down early instead of rushing up to the edge of the cliff, hoping we can stop in time.

Wow my fasting number shot up all of a sudden this morning. 150 on the meter.
Maybe the Small box oven pizza I had last night? Then had non fat yogart with raisins and Splenda. I ate all but one slice of the Pizza and it was a Tony’s Walmart pizza. Not real big. Yesterday it was 136 today 150 fasting. I guess it’s only 14 points but seemed high. I did some more reading and this might be “baseline Diabetes”. First time I read that.
