My blood sugar was 10.0 as a fasting number. I'm supposed to get it down to 7.2 (or at least keep it below 7.8) so I guess I messed up. Before bed it was 13 point something. I cut out all the junk food but I'm still eating too much. How will I ever stop this?

PhoenixFire, you're moving in the right direction. But it will take some time. So I wouldn't say that you "messed up" because your blood glucose (BG) was higher than you expected and you don't know why.

First, even if you can bring your BG down during the day, sometimes your fasting BG number can remain stubbornly high. It's often the last number to come down on a consistent basis.

Second, junk food is not the only source of carbohydrates for most people. Bread, pasta, noodles, grains, potatoes, peas, rice, corn, beer, juice, milk, food that is battered and deep-fried -- all can contain high levels of carbohydrates. So cutting out junk food may not address your BG issues.

If you haven't already, you should check out some of the eating tips here. This site will show you what to eat, what to eat in lower quantities, and what to avoid. Since carbohydrates are so much a part of most people's diets, you need to know what to replace all those calories with or you'll be hungry all the time and willing to eat whatever's around. If you go low carb/keto, keep up with your fluid and sodium intake; cutting out carbs will be a significant change for your body.

You can do this -- if you want to. It's a big change -- it was for so many of us. But you'll feel better and your BG levels will go down. It just will take some time.

Thanks for the feedback. There are some carbs I haven't gotten rid of yet. I've bookmarked the link.

100 this morning after a late night out last night. BH is a bi-vocational Episcopal priest and he did a Christmas Eve service in a town about an hour away. We got home about 2 am.
I'm shocked as I've had numbers as high as 140 lately.

Merry Christmas friends !

After 4 days of being in the 90s, got up to a 103 this morning. Not that bad considering dinner at 11:30 pm last night, sleeping within an hour of eating and waking up at 10 AM this morning.

An 89 this morning.I did have a bite or two of a couple of things I normally wouldn't have. I'm glad the ghost of cravings past didn't return.
