158. Anything under 200 is good for me....teehee.

I went to bed so hungry last night, I didn't sleep much. And when I did fall asleep around 4:00am, I dreamed about.....food.

Wow, I thought it was only me. My clinic dietician couldn't explain why my morning numbers were so high. Interesting to know that it is actually more common than I thought.

As a side note, when I say high I mean in the 140-160 range usually in the morning.

BG being higher in the morning than it was the night before is most commonly referred to as Dawn Phenomenon. It is a natural thing that occurs in just about everybody, the body gives itself a shot of adrenal hormones when waking up, triggering the release of glucose and a counter release of insulin. The effects on BG are more pronounced with many type 2's, varying with how much insulin resistance or beta cell function each of us are blessed with.

A less common cause is called Somogyi effect. You can use your favorite search engine to read more about both of them.

My FBG this morning was 82.
