A surprising 91 this morning. Surprising because its been around 100 and yesterday was a day spent with the grand kids at the movie theater (I had a small popcorn), followed by a pizza buffet lunch (I did eat only the toppings, but one slice was from one called loaded baked potato), and figuring the day was shot, had a larger portion of home made potato salad (retrograded of course). All this must have set off a more-than-normal-for-me insulin response. Thankful for that, but it will be a while before I do that again.

Mbuster, your insulin surge reminds me of plateaued weight loss. You don't lose, you don't lose and then one day say heck with it, pig out and then you lose 5 pounds in a week.

I know about the weight loss thing. I was hanging on to 10 pounds I had lost and regained. I was eating 3300 calories a day thought about cutting calories. I picked up on fats with the intent of cutting back some protein a little later, but started losing even before cutting. I recalculated my calories and was at 4100. Go figure.

92 this AM, 106 yesterday. My macro intake about the same both previous days except I had a half a glass more of wine last night.

I found I can eat potato salad if it's icy cold. If it's just a little cool it will raise my BG. Also, I weigh every day and monitor my eating around my daily weight. A keto diet has helped me loose 35 lbs. I'm now holding at about 160 for over a year, 5 lbs below goal, feeling lean and healthy and maintaining.

133 this a.m.

I'm disappointed and a little puzzled. I had 1/2 cup cottage cheese before bed (4 gr. carb) due to acid stomach. I know I didn't miss my Levemir. Weird stuff. The cottage cheese only sortof helped with the acid stomach, so I'm looking at other options that don't include crackers. Suggestions welcome.

I chew a couple tablets (with water) of Gaviscon. It is unique in that, not only being an antacid, it has an ingredient that produces a foam in the stomach, which effectively puts a barrier over the valve of the esophagus. This prevents acid from reaching the tissues of the esophagus. It lasts for about four hours, and usually that's enough, but I keep some by the bed with water for those rare occasions when the reflux happens in the night.

I do sleep propped up in bed, both for the reflux, and because it keeps my back happy.

I'm newly diagnosed with Type 2 earlier this week. I've only had 4 doses of the 500mg Metformin with my fasting number averages in the 90s so far, but was 72 this morning.

I was told not to let it drop below 70.
