How does it compare to most of your other fasting numbers? What have you set for targets?

I try to keep it no higher than 140 after meals.

For fasting it is usually about 110, sometimes in the 90s.

Also, I’d like to know why my sugar spikes when it’s been hours since eating. Like sometimes in the late afternoon it goes up to 140-150 range for no reason.

Under 140 is my target too. I really like for my fasting numbers to be under 100 but I don't always make it.

Glycogenesis is the conversion of glucose to glycogen, stored energy for later use. The glycogen is stored in your muscles and liver for future use. Glycogenolysis is the conversion glycogen back to glucose and is what the liver does when it thinks you are needing more energy to burn or your BG gets lower than what it thinks it should be. It releases that glucose back into your bloodstream.

It doesn't just have to be glucose that is converted to glycogen, it can also come from protein that we eat. Excess amino acids can be converted to glycogen, stored, and converted to glucose when needed later. That's called gluconeogenesis. Ain't the body a wonderful thing?

I was bad last night - surprise visit from niece and nephews who were in town and they treated us to a movie night - popcorn and 3 bite-size 3 Musketeer bars -and 170 this AM. They left to go back to Texas this AM.
